On April 18th 2012, Hanna’s Atelier for Sonorous Arts and the Municipality of Ljubljana signed a programme management agreement for the Vodnik Homestead, a protected cultural heritage site that has long been suffering from a lack of attention.
The Vodnik Homestead, birthplace of Slovenia’s first poet, was purchased by the artist’s grandfather in 1730 and was then known as the Stone Table tavern. In the spring of 2012, the rural manor will be restored as a cultural centre offering a variety of events and workshops to audiences of all ages. The programme of the sonorous centre will cater to curious visitors as well as expert audiences. One of its primary focuses will be creative workshops for children, teenagers, pensioners and the local population.
The homestead aims to become a meeting place for the creative talents of established international artists, young enthusiasts and the local community, in the spirit of Valentin Vodnik’s ideas of artistic companionship. The great poet’s permanent exhibition remains the core inspiration of the centre, where history and the present, art and science, images and sound will meet and share their experiences.
